Buyer answer · Water-soluble PVA materials
What information should a PVA yarn package label carry?
Direct answer
Agree a label that lets receiving and production identify the exact product and lot without opening the package. Common buyer-controlled fields include product code, count system, construction, lot, package sequence, declared net mass, and any handling instruction needed for the destination process.
Make the label useful without opening the package
A PVA yarn label should let warehouse and production staff identify the package against the order before they open it. Agree the fields with the supplier and show them on the approved artwork: product code, grade or count, count system, construction, supplier lot, package number, and declared net mass with its unit. The exact fields depend on the buyer's traceability and inventory process.
Keep the technical identity separate from marketing copy. A trade name or colour swatch cannot replace the count system or batch reference. If a label uses a shortened product code, provide a controlled key that maps it to the full specification and revision.
Choose fields for receiving and production work
| Field | Purpose | Buyer check |
|---|---|---|
| Product and grade code | Identify the ordered material | Does the code map to the current specification? |
| Count and construction | Distinguish count system, ply, and build | Is the unit written rather than implied? |
| Lot and package sequence | Keep a package traceable within the lot | Can receiving map carton to yarn package? |
| Net mass and handling | Support inventory and safe handling | Does the unit and handling note match the order? |
If the product is a temporary thread that must be removed before the garment ships, production may also need a plain-language identification or handling instruction to prevent it being mistaken for a permanent sewing thread. Put only instructions that the supplier and buyer have agreed and that fit the package size.
Keep required market information separate
The list above is a buyer's operational checklist, not a statement of universal legal labelling rules. Destination markets, transport modes, and customer contracts can impose separate information requirements. Ask the importer or qualified compliance contact to review those requirements for the product, destination, and package type before artwork is released.
Record the label revision and approval date in the purchase documents. A changed logo or layout may be cosmetic, while a changed code, weight unit, or lot format can break receiving controls. Make the supplier identify which fields changed and whether existing stock carries the previous approved artwork.
Check the first label against the physical package
Review a proof before printing, then inspect a package sample from the first shipment. Compare the label with the product specification, purchase-order line, packing list, and the actual package. Check that the barcode or human-readable text can be read in the warehouse lighting and that the lot number is not hidden by a strap, fold, or pallet wrap.
The PVA yarn specification checklist includes packaging and identification among the details to settle before an order. This answer focuses on the fields staff need to see on each individual package.
Retain the approved artwork with the lot record
File the final label artwork, revision, sample image, and supplier approval with the order. If a label is illegible or a required field is missing at receipt, record the affected packages and ask the supplier how their identity will be confirmed before release. Do not rewrite a lot number by hand unless the buyer's controlled relabelling process records who made the change and why.
A stable label scheme reduces the chance that warehouse staff combine grades or lots. It works only when the supplier's carton map and release paperwork use the same identifiers.
