Five Specifications to Confirm Before Ordering Water-Soluble PVA Yarn
A useful quotation needs more than a product name. Sharing five core requirements helps the supplier recommend a closer first sample and reduces development cycles.
1. Yarn count and construction
State the required count system, single or plied construction, twist direction and any dimensional limits relevant to your equipment.
2. Strength requirement
Describe the load the yarn must withstand during winding, weaving, sewing or finishing rather than requesting maximum strength without process context.
3. Elongation and processing behavior
Explain tension, running speed and the failure mode you need to avoid. Stable processing may require balancing strength and elongation.
4. Dissolution profile
Specify the target water temperature, exposure time, agitation and acceptable residual condition. Do not rely on temperature alone.
5. End-use process
Provide fabric structure, chemicals, finishing sequence and expected volume so that sampling reflects the intended production environment.
Add sample and packaging requirements
State how much material is needed for a representative trial, the package format your equipment accepts and any label or carton requirements. A technically suitable yarn can still create avoidable problems if package dimensions, unwinding direction or identification do not match the production line.
Make commercial quotations comparable
Ask each supplier to quote the same specification, quantity, packing, Incoterm, destination, currency and validity period. Separate sample, pilot and commercial quantities. This makes it easier to compare landed cost and avoids treating a different construction or delivery basis as a lower price for the same material.
Define sample-to-bulk control
Record the approved sample identity, test method and acceptance criteria. Ask how changes in raw material, construction, finish or production route are controlled and communicated. For repeat orders, agree which data travel with each batch and which deviations require buyer approval.
Use a complete inquiry brief
A practical brief includes the count system and tolerance, single or plied construction, strength and elongation needs, textile process, target removal cycle, chemicals, package, trial quantity, annual forecast and destination. If a value is unknown, describe the process problem rather than guessing a number.
